About Mackay
Mackay is the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Bowen Basin coal fields. The region boasts some of Queensland's cleanest and most scenic beaches, and is within easy reach of spectacular tourist spots such as Eungella National Park, Finch Hatton Gorge and Cape Hillsborough National Park.
Mackay is home to the award-winning Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre, which brings some of the big names to town. Other local attractions close to the CBD include Artspace Art Gallery, the Botanic Gardens, and Bluewater Quay.

There are plenty of dining options throughout the city. The Mackay Marina Village, for example, is a great place to dine alfresco, take in the unforgettable panoramic views and enjoy the regular live entertainment.
Families will love the Bluewater Lagoon, a free leisure facility, comprised of three tiered lagoons and barbecue facilities—a great place to spend the day with the kids.
If retail therapy is what you need then head to the palm-fringed city centre or take a walk, or a local bus, to any of Mackay's large shopping complexes offering specialty and department stores.
